Publication Ethics
ForAuthors
Submitted manuscripts should contain entirely original work, fully referenced, as authors should expect the editor to check the papers against plagiarism with specialized software, before sending it out for the double blind review. Authors should avoid multiple, redundant or concurrent submissions. The work submitted for publication at EJIS should not be under consideration elsewhere at the time of submission. In the case that the submitted manuscript was rejected elsewhere, this should be indicated in the current submission.
The submitted manuscript should nominate all authors that contributed to its realization, and acknowledge all sources and /or persons that were involved. Authors should provide accurate contact details about themselves and should designate a corresponding author.
The corresponding author will be considered fully responsible for the authorship of the paper and all communications concerning the ethical status and originality of the paper. Any queries or investigations that may arise, pre - or post publication, shall be transmitted to the corresponding author. Authors should ensure a functional and timely cooperation with the editor, during the submission, review, and publication processes. Authors should openly disclose the source of all data and third party material. If any third party material is used, authors should obtain explicit written permission for re-use, from the relevant copyright holders. Authors should be prepared to sign a copyright assignment form on acceptance of their work, which will assume that the author is empowered to assign copyright to the publisher.
Neither submission charges nor article processing charges (APC) are requested.
For Reviewers
Reviewers should treat all papers received from the EJIS Editorial Team for evaluation with strict confidentiality, stored in a safe place without the risk of being lost or stolen. Reviewers are not allowed to circulate externally any submission or part of submission. Reviewers should not contact the authors of a submission in the case they are still identifiable from the text of the paper.
Only invitations to review work that is relevant to own expertise and speciality should be accepted. Also, reviewers should disclose to the Editorial Team any potential conflicts of interest that may arise during the appraisal of the work, as soon as they became aware of this situation.
Once the invitation accepted, reviewers should carry out their duties in a timely and impartial manner, with objectivity, without using inflammatory or offensive language in their appraisal of the work.
Reviewers should report to the Editorial office any suspected ethical misconduct that was possibly used by the authors.
For Editors
All articles considered for publication in EJIS will be screened by editors in an attempt to determine relevance, and then submitted to a panel of two reviewers. Editors should accept papers only based on the scientific merit, originality, quality and relevance of their content.
Editors should treat all submissions with confidentiality, fair play and demonstrate treatment of equal chances. Submissions should be carried out through the blind peer-review process in a timely and accurate manner, while their authors are being informed about the status of the publication process.
Editors should give reasonable explanation to authors once a negative decision has been made, and should treat authors with full respect in all circumstances. Except when a reviewer explicitly wishes to be identified, the editors will maintain the anonymity of the reviewers. The results of the blind review process will be communicated to the author and if any recommendations from the reviewers the author will be asked to submit an improved version of the paper. The final decision concerning the publication of the paper will be taken by the Editorial Board.
Editors will, as reviewers too, refer to the guidelines explicitly highlighted by COPE http://publicationethics.org.
